Two Swaps!

I am so excited that I made the cut for two swaps. One on Drew Michael's blog, and Bona's "What's in your Vintage Purse Swap". So ready to get started on these items. I have also made three new minis and an altered canvas that I will be posting pictures of over the next few days. Hopefully I will post pics of the minis on Sunday. So much fun and actually very different. The altered canvas and mini that goes with it are for a male friend so tried to keep the embellishments down to "manly things". Once posted you guys will have to let me know what you think.

Random stuff

Over the next week I will be adding some additional items that I have been working on and also some things I have painted. Over the years I have created a lot of items, from cross stitched to quilts and painted things, that I have given away as gifts, if I can get pics of these I will post those as well. Thanks for looking, have a fantastic week. Darlene

Tile #4 for Charity Drive

I have been busy organizing my stamps and forgot to put the instructions for my last tile. I started with Pink Bazzil Card stock, distressed with Vintage Photo and Peeled Paint, then started emblessing anything with
Roses, used some prima, added a vintage tobacco sack that I found at a local antique store and tea dyed it along with the tag, added some fiber, used a lot of pearls and bling around everything. I used a Kaiser Craft dress form and designed a vintage looking coat with lace and pearls. I cut the fabric out of a wine bottle cover my "Other Mother"or my son's Mother in Law Lesa Barnes gave me on a trip to Hawaii, and created the coat. then I added some fiber to look like a belt and a pearl, (comes from many years in the fashion retail business). Then I lucked up on a doily set, hand crocheted at an antique store and cut it apart, it made 43 crocheted flowers that I tea stained and added behind the dress form. The lace is from my Mother stash, at least 20+ years old. I wasn't satisfied with the way it looked until I used my finger and added Diamond Stickles all over it. Pretty much really liked the way it turned out then. Hope you like it, please comment if you have any questions.

Charity Tile #3

I love this tile. I had purchased some Kasiercraft Wood Pieces from BlueMoon Scrapbooking, love these guys, order it and you have it in about two days! After basing the tile with some Mariposa Paper, I distressed the bird cage, then I mixed some UTEE with embossing powder, Antiquities by Ranger, and added Gold Stickles. The beige flower is Prima, that I boiled some tea and filled the kettle with flowers, tags, ribbon etc, to stain dried it and added Stickles, then layered it over some blue green flowers, not sure where I got those, or who they are made by, (sorry) and adhered them with with glue dots. The large butterfly, I stamped on some beige cardstock with Versamark, and used my "mixed up embossing powders, twice. once it was cut out I took the Versamark just around the edges and used a Glitter Green embossing powder. Added some bling to the wings and tucked it behind the flowers with a glue dot. The flower in the other corner is Prima and the butterfly is just cut out of the Maripsoa paper and tucked under the Prima flower.

Chipboard Tile for Charity Drive #2

This one is basically like the other description, I used some old paper I had, distressed with Vintage Photo, took another piece of chipboard and loaded it with tape from my ATG, then just started crinkling brown ribbon, added some Prima flowers and bling. I had the hinge for years, it is metal so I sanded it and then added brads, after inking it with Vintage Photo, I embossed it with clear embossing powder, and after it cooled I rubbed some black ink on it. The button is old, no particular vendor's, and finally I took a Thicker Heart, sanded it inked and embossed it, stamped the word smile on it and added Gold Stickles everywhere including all over myself, guess it is a good thing I am a single woman!

Marion Smith's Charity Drive for Reece's Rainbow

Well hopefully I will after posting on Facebook and joining Artsy Addicts, (thanks for the add), I will get some followers, lol! I am new to all this but I have always been creative and I am so amazed by all the talented people in the world. Gosh, isn't it just an inspiration!!!

I am creating 4 tiles for the drive and thought I would go over a little of how I did each, I promise I won't be "long winded".

The first one is just some paper I have had forever, inked it with Vintage Photo, took a Thicker frame, sanded it and distressed it, punched holes in it and added the twine, and started adding some pieces that I promise you I have had for years. Of course I had to add stickles to everything. The trim around the frame was some handmade lace I found at an Antique Store here in Tennessee. Thanks for looking and if you have any questions please feel free to ask!!!

My First Post

Well the first thing you should know is that I have spent all day trying to get this blog up and running, and yes I am still in my pajamas, lol. Never thought about creating one before but I have been so amazed at some of the talented women, and the amazing things they have created that I just had to join in. It all really started with me trying to find something to work on, since I had completed all my major DIY projects so I started watching paper crafts on YouTube, gosh am I behind, You Ladies Rock!!!! And thank you so much for sharing, the passion is definitely there as you proudly describe your latest creation. I have to say that I was really inspired by watching Arlene, butterflykisseswithlove, and to think she has a husband and children, you are totally amazing!!!! Of course I had to go shopping to get some of the products you were using and now it's just time to get busy, can't wait to receive my packages.

My oldest son is currently in Iraq (second deployment) and the one thing he has taught me is "If there is something in this life you want to do, go for and quit just talking about it". It is a wonderful thing when your grown children give you such profound advice. Oh, how I love my children, 2 boys 29 and 24, greatest accomplishments in my life time!!! So here I am thanks for all the inspiration and hopefully one day I will be able to inspire someone if only by spoken words..........
